The club

Averleigh has 340 members, one course and one House. It was laid out in 1897 across a Georgian park in the High Weald, and it has never tried to be any larger.

The course is walked. Two-balls have the run of it, a round takes a little over three hours, and foursomes go out first on Sunday mornings.

Lunch is served in the Long Room every day of the year but Christmas, and the House keeps eight bedrooms for members and their guests.

Eighteen holes around the House

Two loops of nine through the old park, west and east of the lime avenue. The eighteenth comes home straight up the middle, to the front door.

Off the terrace and away from the House. The ground falls left toward the cedars, so hold your drive into the upslope on the right.
